Rest In Peace Mocha

A few weeks ago we had to put down our beloved chocolate lab Mocha.

It's been quiet in the house ever since. I miss her a lot. She was my company when G was working nights or away for different projects. Always there to greet me when I got home from work.

She went quickly and without suffering, thank goodness. But it still was not easy to let her go.

We blew this months budget already. The only thing that is a positive is that we aren't falling behind but at the same time making little headway.

Not really much else to report.

  2. It's terribly hard to have to put down a pet. We've had 5 very loved dogs, each one a completely different personality, and every one of them are still missed. I can imagine you miss her very much. She was a lucky puppy to have been loved so much.

    1. I'm glad to hear other people still miss pets that they had to let go, Mocha will definitely never be forgotten by me

    2. I can tell you that one day you'll be able to talk about her to other people and not feel yourself tearing up. And once you're ready, please adopt another dog. After a few months, sometimes it was almost a year later, we would adopt another dog. I tend to pick a breed that's different from the one we lost. That way you don't put unfair expectations on the dog. We just adopted a 12yr old last year, he had been seized by the SPCA. We won't have long with him compared to a puppy, but he's one of the best dogs we've ever had. Not to mention it broke our hearts to see him languish at the SPCA. No one wants an old dog. Anyway, the point is he doesn't replace the dog before, he's got his quirks, but he's a great dog and I'm so glad we got him. every dog deserves to have a good home, and it's amazing what they can blossom into when they're happy, safe, and loved. Hope you & your husband have a wonderful holiday!

    3. Thank you for taking your time to leave such a kind reply. G & I will definitely always adopt, and we do have a special place in our hearts for older dogs. We got Mocha only 5 years ago when her owner didn't want her anymore (she came with the house we purchased but we always said the house came with Mocha, lol).

That is really good advice about picking a different breed - I never thought about comparing but I'm sure we would, even subconsciously.

Your story about your pup made me tear up - happy tears! Thank you for sharing and happy holidays to you and your family aswell!! :)
