This was a really tough week for us here, not financially
(thank goodness) but emotionally, physically: just a shitty week.
G has been so stressed out at work.
Last weekend he worked a night shift on Saturday, which is fine as he is used
to it. But then he came home at around 4am, slept for 4 hours and had to work a
9am – midnight shift. Then this week he worked alone for two separate nights.
Tomorrow (which should have been his day off) he is working a 10 hour shift for
a near by town; so he gets home tonight really late (he is working a night
shift) and then has to wake up early to do this day shift. And guess what? It’s
been 7 months now and still no raise. He keeps bringing it up at work, sending
off emails. Like how discouraging: this is our government. It’s infuriating
that they think it’s okay to have these overworked, over tired zombies as a
police force. It’s not safe for anyone.
We’ve both try so hard to be
positive at home but this week was just really difficult and very upsetting…

Edit - G just texted me. He filled out his time sheet: 44hours of OVERTIME on top of the 40 hours of regular time. I started to half laugh half cry. Our emotions are extremely confused right now.

There is so much pressure on our RCMP folk, particularly in a small community where service needs to be provided but there isn't the manpower to make it happen.
ReplyDeleteThey are stretched just way too thin around this country...
DeleteI think yes, indeed... the gvmt wants "slave labour" half the time... meanwhile they have nice cushy paychecks. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteThat is my husbands biggest complaint. The governing bodies and management are so far removed from reality...
